    [Misc] MPC2050

    Hello all,

I have an MP C2050 which i think i've messed up with the settings.

The machine would'nt print PDF files, so i deleted the drivers and tried to re-install. Suddenly, i discovered that it cannot be re-installed nor detected anymore. I have tried detecting it using the IP address but to no avail.

The machine will not let me ping it or web into it either.

    Can anybody help?

Try connecting directly to it with a laptop. If you still cannot connect, check that the IP address set for the laptop and the MP C2050 are on the same subnet. If you still cannot ping it, the controller board has crashed.

Also, get the IP address off the printer, unplug printer then ping the address - I have had a couple IP conflicts recently that have caused me pain & some weird no print/intermittent probs. Some have said "ip conflict" on mfp & some haven't.

Pinged the address of printer - no response, however, connecting the printer via USB works perfectly.

No luck pinging after connecting directly with Laptop. Also made sure IP set was the same. however, connecting the printer via USB works perfectly.

any activity lights on the NIC? you said it worked before, but is there any way the SP to enable the NIC was turned 'off' ? If answer to both is NO, replace the NIC, which I believe is part of the control board on this one

did the customer have User Codes turned on? Send a print job & watch the Data light - if it flashes 2 or 3 times, then nothing prints, User Codes are on.
Also, check SP-5-985-01 should = 1 for NIC to work

Put the machine on auto obtain, re boot it, see if it picks up an IP, if it does, when you switch it back to static, it will show the IP address it picked up, then ping that

Have you enabled IEEE802 Authentication for Ethernet seeing if it responds to wifi?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                    Hit it.

The yellow light on most controllers should only be on when receiving or sending data, which it should not be doing when the network is disconnected. If you have access to another MP C2050 or MP C2550, try changing the controller board.

Thanks jam-o-matic, and everyone who helped with my machine. Somehow, i fiddled with the SP-5-985-01. I turned it back to 1 and all is fine.
