How are you getting a colour print out from a black and white copier?

After resetting the copier to factory defaults you will need to put all the settings back. I hope you printed off all non defaults settings 1st. Second you will need to run a rough colour reg adjustment 1 st then fine after and that should fix your problem. Make sure the MUSIC sensors clean 1st. All in the manual.

The birth certificate for the machine will be under the jam removal decal in the front cover. You need to re-input the information on it.

A memory all clear on a Ricoh colour machine should be an absolute last resort. It is not a common practice to fix faults.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

You need to run a Forced Line Adjustment after performing the Engine clear

If you do not have the birth certificate or a non-default print out and forced line position fails, you are going to have to do manual adjustments until it is close enough for forced line position to work. There is a table in the trouble shooting guide portion of the service manual.

As someone who had to do something like this due to my own goof up, this will probably take a while, too. But of you are patient and thoughtful it can be done.

I have had to do a couple of 2238c in the past. Both times trade-ins that the boss wanted to sell. First time took forever. Then you figure out a process and it goes quickly.

thanks for the help , it turned
in the Service Manual , written this for beginners
                      3.3.5 COLOR REGISTRATION
                      Line Position Adjustment
The automatic line position adjustment usually is done for a specified condition to get the
                      best color prints.
Do the following if color registration shifts:
􀂃 Do "Auto Color Registration" as follows to do the forced line position adjustment.
                      1. First do SP2-111-3.
                      2. Then do SP2-111-1.
