Help - how to revive Samsung MultiXpress SLX-3280NR Stuck on Samsung Logo Screen

Hello - I have a Samsung MultiXpress SLX-3280NR that never boots past the Samsung Logo on the touch panel screen. When I turn it on it never gets past displaying the "Samsung" logo.

I would like to correct this and restore the printer back to full functionality - if anyone has any insight upon reading through my post please let me know your thoughts!

When I toggle ON the power switch for the printer it goes through the initial boot sequence but the display screen always hangs and stays on the "SAMSUNG" logo and never gets past this point.

Before I turn the printer ON I can press and hold either combination of keys #1 or #2 shown below to get to the touch panel calibration screen. After I go through the full touch panel calibration successfully the screen stays BLANK and I cannot do anything further so I end up turning off the printer at that point. I can turn the printer back on but it gets stuck at the Samsung logo again.
#1 key combination = the zero "0" key by itself
    #2 key combination = the *, 0, # keys together

I have been able to access the syncthrough web management portal and I've been able to login to the printer and could print pages from a network connected computer successfully.

Just lately in my recent troubleshooting I can no longer access syncthrough web portal... the Orange LED on the Ethernet port of the printer is illuminated but the Green LED is not so it seems like data is only going one way now.

From some research I have done it seems likely that one of the following is the problem:
    - HDD failed
    - OPE board faulty (this is the touch panel unit that contains the LCD screen, OPE circuit board behind the LCD and the operator keypad)

I have tried replacing the original Toshiba 320 GB HDD with an older Western Digital 320 GB HDD. The replacement HDD did not resolve the problem of the hanging Samsung logo upon startup. The printer does recognize when there is no HDD present so it is "sensing" the HDD hard drive properly.

I have also tried replacing the full touch panel (OPE board I believe is what this is called?). Upon replacement I performed a touch panel calibration which was successful but the screen stayed BLANK at the end of the calibration and I had to perform a hard reset by turning the power switch OFF/ON. When the printer started back up the hanging Samsung logo was still there.

I am currently running the latest firmware version that is available from the HP support site (website link is below) - firmware version V3.00.17.00

I have not been successful in re-loading the firmware from a USB stick inserted into the printer (I might not be following the right steps for this USB-stick firmware re-flashing) however using the syncthrough web access I have been able to try and re-load the same version of firmware (V3.00.17.00) however this never seemed to resolve the hanging Samsung Logo issue.

Can anyone think of anything else that I should check? Please help me get rid of this "hanging" Samsung logo and get back the full functionality of this printer.

Would it be beneficial to try an older version of firmware? I do not have any other firmware versions - only the latest V3.00.17.00 so I have not been able to try and roll back the firmware to an earlier version to see if that solves the issue of the hanging Samsung logo upon startup.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to some help with this if anyone has suggestions - I am out of ideas myself...

Your HDD is the problem. It needs to be formatted in FAT32 and then it will need to have the recovery software (I don't have it. Good luck finding it) flashed on. After that comes the firmware and after that you'll probably have to recover the UI with it's own recovery software (I don't have it. Good luck finding it). If you find the UI recovery programs and software you will need a Windows 7 OS to make it work. You have an easy problem to fix, but a lot of obstacles in front of you.

Update - I have solved the problem and got my Samsung SLX-3280NR printer back up and fully operational! Yay!

It was the Main Board that needed replacement. I bought a replacement from Aliexpress.com (part number JC92-02831A Original PBA-MAIN for Samsung SL-X3220 / SL-X3280) and installed it and the printer was functional after the replacement of the Main Board. I retained the original MSOK (Master System Operator Key) from my old Main Board to keep the life cycle information of the printer intact.

As I had mentioned in my initial post at the beginning of this thread - when the boot sequence of the printer kept "hanging" on the Samsung logo I was initially able to access the Synch-Thru web service via IP address. Then all of a sudden I was no longer able to access the Synch-Thru web service and I noticed at this time that only the Orange LED on the Ethernet port of the printer is illuminated but the Green LED would not light up. This led me to suspect that the main board might be faulty, as I read in a service manual for a similar printer (Samsung CLX-9301 series) that if the GREEN LED of the printer ethernet port is not lighting up then the main board can't send data through the network channel and you need to replace the Main Board. My network switch also couldn't "see" the printer on the network at this point so I believed that the Main Board could be faulty and need replacement since the printer IP could be not be detected on my local network.

As my last ditch attempt to revive the printer I ordered the new Main Board and I am happy it worked after I installed it. Turns out that neither the HDD or the OPE Board (LCD touchscreen plus the circuit boards behind it) were faulty - it was my Main Board that needed replacement. I am using my original Toshiba branded 320 GB HDD drive in the printer with no issues.

      Cheers,

You can perform a system controller reflash by sending a command to the machine in firmware download mode. To enter firmware download mode, press *, 0, and # simultaneously. Then, connect the USB cable from your laptop to the printer and send a command to the machine to enable SWUpgrade. Next, send the boot .HD file.

The machine will reboot, and you’ll see a loading circle. After some time, it will boot normally. Once it has booted, you need to perform a firmware upgrade.

Occasionally, the touchscreen may be slightly misaligned after this process. To fix this:
        1. Reboot the machine and hold 0 while powering it on.
        2. It will load into Touch Screen Calibration Mode.
        3. Follow the instructions to calibrate the display.
        4. Once done, reboot the machine, and it should function properly.
        5. Also if you need them Pm me.

          Hi,
I've got exactly the same problem here: The X3280NR boots into the logo screen, makes some noise every now and then, and reboots after a while, only to get stuck again. Printing works fine, and SyncThru is also accessible.

*,0,# leads to a green screen saying "MMS TSP CM DELTA TEST : OK!!" and then a white screen framed by and split into quarters by boxes. Still reboots after a couple of minutes.

I want to give your instructions a try, but there are many questions:
          • Did you experience exactly the same symptoms, and does it mean that dave10058k didn't actually have to replace the printer main board?
How do I make sure it's the right cure for the cause?
          • Am I right in assuming that reflashing the system controller aims to fix some ROM data corruption, and if so, what might such data corruption be caused by?
          • Is there any way to debug what's going wrong here in detail?
          • How do I "send a command"?
Does the printer emulate a serial console (which parameters and what serial console tool did you use?), or is there a special software (which one and where to find it) for that?
          • What exact command do I have to send to "enable SWUpgrade"?
          • Where can I find or obtain the boot.HD file?
          • How do I send the file? (Again, serial console or special software program?)
          • How can I make sure the printer doesn't reboot during the reflash?
Will a failed reflash do even more harm (e.g., brick other components as well)?
Could a reflash be repeated if it failed?
I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you so much!

Hi there, I've a Samsung SL-K3250NR with exactly the same problem.
Till friday it works correctly, on monday I've found the printer with Samsung logo, no wheel, nothing else waiting some time. Machine reboots every minute or someting so.
I can print some pages, but not a big amount, ADF scanner doesn't works (it starts, but the page from my pc doens't make the image), it seems that from the glass instead the scanner works.
I've tried to push *0# at the start, but it goes in calibration screen mode after a green screen, the same thing if I push 0 at the start.
              Keys combination 123 doens't works.
The tech said me it could be the display, but it seems to me something else.
              Someone could please help me?
