    Samsung SCX 6545 SMB Scanning

Machine has been installed for six months no trouble. Customer calls me with SMB scan issues. The scanner will scan but immediately prints out error report. No indication what the error is-just a scan to server report "destination status failed." I checked all indications:
    1. I can ping to machine from server to device. (Server is running Win Server 2003)
    2. I can also test successful to server in Samsung web admin for device
    3. I can print to the device.
    4. I can copy on device.
    5. I cannot scan from the device to Win server 2003 fully shared folder on shared drive SMB scanning

Please help. I already have the manual thank you very much.

Most Likely the issue is a firewall on the network is turned on. If they have a firewall turned on on the internal network port 3900 may be blocked. the second thing I have run into with the Samsung models is they send a ping request out to the destination, if the firewall blocks incoming ping requests the scan will fail. Try that and see what happens.

Was there an extended power outage? I have a customer whose main server is set to DHCP. If the power is off long enough it will choose a new IP address.

This has happened so many times now that the secretary now knows how to ping the server hostname, get the current IP, and reprogram the one touch memories.

Why is it set to DHCP? No idea, but they aren't going to change anything. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

man, make sure the smb port 139 is released if it is not released, scan testing using the smb port 445.
