    [Misc] Samsung

    Hello Everyone!

I was just preparing myself for a meeting i have with a Rep. and a Technician from Samsung tomorrow. We (my boss) are thinking about going into business with them and was wondering what you guys think of their machines? I currently have the CLX-9301na to test out and am liking it so far. I have to say i like Samsung products alot and wanted to get a couple other ideas on my situation from you guys. Pros/Cons, Service, Support, Parts, etc. Much appreciated! Look forward to the feedback! Take care all!

Stay away from the personal class desktop crap, usually sold at your local office supply chain stores.

So lets imagine that an enduser lays out the princely sum of $199.00 for a color printer. He's going to expect that printer to run flawlessly for three years of warranty, while he's running glossy inkjet paper and cardstock, using generic toner refills from China, and digging paper jams out of the fuser with his trusty pocket knife. And since he's omniscient he won't need to read the manual. And since there are only 3 blinking LEDs on the machine he'll call you every time something is blinking, which is all the time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Re: Samsung

We've been a Samsung dealer for a few years now and I honestly would have to strongly recommend against taking them on. Particularly if you want to sell A3 size machines. Their higher end printers and A4 mfp's aren't bad and the parts are cheap. But we're having a terrible time with the A3's. Lot's of weird issues that are entirely software stuff that you can't fix. We're just praying that each successive firmware update will fix the list of issues we have. We carry two lines and the vast majority of customers that had our other line before are wishing they hadn't bought a Samsung. We'll be flipping them as soon as possible back to our other machines. Maybe in a few years, once Samsung has been in the A3 market longer, they'll get their act together. Right now we feel like we're just guinea pigs while Samsung tries to figure out how to make an A3 machine that works and meets customers needs. Hope this helps.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

        Hey guys/gals

Just wanted to fire out a thanks for the feedback. Helped alot. Meeting went well and i think i got the boss onboard to undertake just a few models (ex. 9301 series) and i must say that it is very service friendly. We had the whole thing taken apart in under an hour. Plus the people who i met were absolutely amazing. Very informative and stand behind the product. Hopefully all goes well! Wish you all the best! Thanks again!

Samsung is good at making phones, but I would stay away from the printers...

I kinda like the Samsungs, I just finished training course for the Polaris, Cosmos and Evergreen series. The color drum units reminded me of Ricoh, they even use hex screws 5.5mm like the Ricohs. New models have 2-3 boards, so when you take back cover off, it looks empty.
I think they will become a major player someday.
