    [CQ] Sharp MX-C402sc Fusing Issues

    Calling all Sharp Tech's!!!
I'm having fusing issues with a MX-C402SC. I performed a PM a couple months ago and replaced the fuser unit with a new OEM fuser. The fuser is tracking toner on the prints/copies, it appears to be from build up on the fuser belt cleaning sheet and scrapers. See attached samples. Upon futher inspection it seemed that the belt was not turning so I ordered in another OEM fuser unit and after about a week it was doing the same thing. Then their second machine same model and also has new OEM fuser and PM started doing exactly the same thing. The old worn out fusers did not have this problem. It just started with the new fusers. The firmware is Main 04.02.N1, PCU 01.10.F0, Boot 01.03.N1, Scanner 01.01.N1 and Nic 01.05.00. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I'm about ready to post a comment on the THREAD FOR WORST COPIER EVER!!! LOL

You can get that symptom if the paper type is not set correctly.

They are typical users and im sure they do naughty things and say they don't. But they have had these models several years and this problem started after I put the new fusers in and the two machines are on different floors and one I've had in the shop for several weeks now and it only gets fed fresh 20lb stock. I've cleaned off the felt and scrapers but the problem returns.

I know some of the machines work better if the fusing control is set for 23+ -28, even though customer is running 20 lb paper.

        Fusing Control Settings:
Set the paper weight for the fusing control.
        Paper Weight: 16 - 23 lbs.
        23+ - 28 lbs.

Generic toner will also do this and if the fuser rollers are not pressuring up correctly(biggest issue with these fusers) , the latest fuser is the mx-c32fu1(supply)or DUNTW8120DS17, also check sim43 fuser temp settings, may have been adjusted by another tech ?

The fusers I'm ordering are the DUNTW8120DS17 OEM. I Cleaned the fuser belt cleaning sheet and scrapers again, ran 20 two sided color copies, then made one B/W copy (see attachment). I'm working on the temp setting. I was thinking about generic toner and was going to ask my purchaser when this machine was still at the customers site, so thank you for the reminder. It is Copylite and has been copylite since we picked up this account over a year ago, we might have got a bad lot. If I go down that road then I will have to flush out the whole system and replace the developers just to find out if that's it. Makes since though, that was one of the first things I thought of but got hung up on these fusers. Thank you guy's for your help. I will try the temp settings first. MX-C402SC-08212015133914.pdf

try upgrading to the latest fw, release date of april 2015, has a fix in it for Modification of the problem that the contamination with the streak is generated on the backside when continuously printing the mixed data of B&W/Color to Letterhead paper(this may only work in letterhead mode) , letterhead mode is basically 2 sided copy on the Sharp mfp, when letterhead is selected, the letterhead is flipped over (goes thru duplexer) and is printed on backside(letterhead as to be loaded print side down in the cassette). This may help your issue since from your description you run 20 pages of duplex color and then see the streaks/marks when running a single side doc afterwards, but the issue remains that using generic toner can give all kinds of problems , Sharp may have changed other components in the fuser units than just the fixes for the L4-16 errors, or settings in firmware that aren't included bulletins that don't effect OEM supplies or parts.

I don't have access to the firmware and have tried to find it on the internet with no luck so far.
If anyone has the latest firmware I would be grateful.
I have OEM toner on order but the magenta is on back order till late this year.
For the duplex copies it just happens that those 20 copies were duplex-ed but it does not matter if their duplex-ed or not, out come is the same.

check the sim 43 -1 /4 values with the sm and try increasing temp by 5 degrees in sim 43-1 and 4 for plain. might do the trick .
