    Transfer blade flips

Anyone else having problems with cleaning blade flips on the primary transfer units in the frontier series.

I know Sharp has issued a bulletin to power the hell out of them even on installs.

I do this and still have the problem.

I use the Sharp rebuild kits to rebuild them and have even ordered in just the blade under the part number if the belt was not damaged.

I work for a Sharp dealer and we use only Sharp parts and supplies.

Are you using some kind of blade primer? I don't know if Sharp specifies a specific primer, but I use the Titanium Stearate transfer blade primer. Toner is not adequate to the task on startup of a new belt.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

I'm pretty sure Sharp has a bulletin about this series needing starting powder even during setup, and when replacing primary unit or kits.

Check your service manuals, depending on product sharp has multiple setting powders for drum and belts, old machines are stearic acid powder for drums and titanium for belt (2300 color) most of the color machines starting with mx-2600 series use stearic acid powder for drums and kynar powder for transfer belt. what i have seen lately is a new transfer belt unit can't be turned by hand or is very difficult to turn by hand. I remove the cleaning blade unit , powder the complete belt with kynar powder and the clean blade , reinstall the cleaning unit, turn belt by hand at least one rev, put in copier run at least 4 11 x 17 sky shots of a color in single color mode , blade and belt should be all set, also Sharp is using yellow toner for drums on the mx-m564/565 series, powder with stearic acid then yellow toner powder.

I use the steric powder supplied by Sharp.

I saw the bulletin and we powder the hell out of transfer belts on install even when they are new or recently rebuilt.

The blades don't flip right away, they usually last a few day before flipping.

if you use stearic acid powder on transfer belt , you will have blade flip, (been down this road years ago). This is from Service manual of frontier copier mx-c311/c401, maintenance section

              3) To prevent against reversing of the cleaning blade, apply KYNAR to the primary transfer belt.

The bulletin TT-062915_3 gives the p/n of the kynar powder UKOG-0123FCZZ, the stearic acid powder p/n is UKOG-0312FCZZ.

                like faxman28 mentioned ,

Stearic acid powder is for most durm rebuilds and not for belts.

kynar powder will work on most of the belts including frontier series but not in mx23/27 series 1 models.

If you can get the modified side cousins it will improve the blade life as well.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, time off

For the transfer belts I use part # UK0G-0123FCZZ, which is correct.

I use the steric acid on the drums.

I use the yellow toner on the newer belts.

I have been using the proper powders but have still had several blade flips in the last couple of months.

                    Re: Transfer blade flips

I have seen this problem. If the blade that is using comes with drum powder, cleaned it off. Sometimes it goes bad. Apply a fresh powder on the blade. If you don't have drum power use black toner. Good luck.
