We just got one of these machines and it looks like a real piece of junk. It looks like they told the designers to make it un service friendly, change everything from previous machines, make it as cheap and flimsy as possible. I have not worked on all the different brands out there but of the ones I have worked on I liked sharps the best, especially the previous MX type machines. It looks like they wanted not 1 part to be similar to anything before. The only thing that looks familiar is the scan section. Ours is not running yet because a inner exit tray was not ordered with the machine and the machine will not run without it because a fuser exit shift motor assy comes with the inner tray and wont work without it. What do any of you guys who have seen these new machines think about them?

From what I've seen they are good quality machines. Sharp hired a bunch of new engineers since the last models were designed which is probably the reason for them being totally different. The color quality is immaculate. Some of the other new features such as Multi Crop and the integrated OCR and native support for microsoft docs (on the 70 series) are really nice too. -

I have a few out in the field. Went to the 2 day seminar a month ago. From what I have seen so far I like them. The 3070 is a better machine I feel with the extra features. Yes they will code out without some sort of finisher etc. installed. I am told all of the next models will be of this style and the supplies will interchange. We will see.Comment

Re: MX-3050n opinions
I guess time will tell how good they are in the long run. One thing for sure I dont like is the electro mechanical unit to eject the toner cartridges. I dont see for what reason you would want that. Just something to go wrong and for no reason. They already have a tech bulletin about greasing the inside of the unit because of problems.Comment

Re: MX-3050n opinions
Reason for the toner eject..... Is all too often customers will replace toner before it is required. When this happens contract profitability suffers. So by locking the cart. in, eliminates customer changing toner too soonComment

Re: MX-3050n opinions
I've stood in front of plenty of customers thinking ["Thanks for throwing away $150 worth of toner, and it won't make a bit of difference. That was helpful."], then trying of to think of something semi-positive to say, like: "Thanks for trying, but I don't think that will help much."
=^..^=
EDIT:
I understand that there are actually three separate ways to eject a partially-full toner cartridge: two electronic and one mechanical.
1) Submenu in System Settings
2) Simulation 3-10
3) Secret release tab
Personally, I think I would keep these to myself. I would just tell the customer that they absolutely cannot remove a toner cartridge before it calls for replacement. =^..^=Last edited by blackcat4866; 03-14-2016, 01:05 AM.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: MX-3050n opinions
I attended a 2 day seminar for them as well. Nice upgrade to dev units, toner is 10% dev (don't use it to lube!) and the toner has a lower melting point so they run at a lower temp. The boards are also closer monitored internally as well. Have a few in the field, so far so good.Comment
