Thanks David. i have seen what you are talking about. The fuser is in snug with no stripping on frame and the coupler gear that drives fuser is okay and the noise is different from the worn gear grinding sound. Not nearly as bad as that. Sounds like it may have to do with td or dv unit though copies are good.

What also makes me think this is that both the motor head gear and the toner motor pin were damaged. Have a great day. Frank

Not to be a pessimist, but a lot of the fuser drive noise is not fixable. The fuser gears do not align well, and often make noise. On some machines a few well placed shims between the fuser and the frame can make more quiet some of the machines. Frequently that plastic frame strips out, and with the fuser flopping around loose, it's even worse. =^..^=

Thanks jhonjon. I looked at the 2 coupler gears (ngerh0019,ngerh0018) that drive fuser and they seem intact. Will check further. Have a great weekend. Frank

Had service call on AR-F152 with L-4 and drive noise. Main drive motor had cracked gear on head. Changed motor with a good used one. then still had L-4. Removed toner, dv unit and drum unit and discovered coupler and broken head pin from toner motor.

Changed toner motor and now working but has a continuos noise as though something not turning as smoothly as it should although quality is clear and unaffected though I had to run a few sky shots to get rid of background from overtoned dv.

I plan on going back with dm unit, td cart and dv unit and fuser to rule out resistance from one of them. Any advice is appreciated. Frank/ActionPhotocopy
