    [CQ] Sharp mx2640 & condensation

Ok I've seen a lot of things servicing copiers over the years but I've never seen this

I got a call to look at a 2640 which was fine when printing but when scanning or copying its smudged!!

I couldn't find anything wrong with it when I arrived and tested it the customer says it gets worse the more you copy or scan, so I put 50 originals in the doc feed and copy them, after I had done this 3 times (150 copies) it started smudging and got worse and worse.

When I lifted the doc feed up to my surprise the glass was coated in condensation, I took the glass off and I could write my name on the mirror and underside of the glass!! I cleaned everything and it copied fine again but after 200 single originals it was back!

It's in the back office of an estate agent, it's an old building and a bit dingy but it's cool and didn't seem any worse that other places I've worked in.

Anyone seen this? Any ideas guys??

I would try a dehumidifying heater for the scanner.

I see that all the time. Sometimes there is way more humidity than you would expect. Having a Thermo-Hygrometer Pen takes the guess work out of it. I wish I had one. Although where I live, I just assume the humidity is too high.
