    Odd developer problem on AR-M455

When I did a developer change, SP25-2 was at 171. But when I ran 25-1, I got a reading of 129. Of course I got an error at the end of running 25-2. I tried detoning it by disconnecting the toner motor, but then it would just go into "replenishing toner," so that wasn't helpful. (This is an Imagistics im4511 - I used the arm455 developer.)

    Thanks for any ideas.

High readings of 25-01 or 25-02 mean undertoning, not overtoning. Typical reasons for high readings are:

    1) Damaged mag roller: The drive end can twist right off.
    2) Losing drive to the developing unit.
    3) Hard pack of toner over the toner sensor face.
    4) Bad toner sensor (unusual).

Ideally you'd like to see around 100 from either 25-01 or 25-02

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks Blackcat. The copies are definitely overtoned. Tried cleaning the toner sensor. Made no difference. Funny thing is when I got to the customer, the machine was undertoned. (No, I didn't check the readings when I got there.) So, I figured I'd change the developer. Copies were good, but I also realized that the developer only lasted about 40k.

      Thanks again.

Also I believe Imagistics developer is not the same weight as Sharp developer. You might have to add or remove some of it.

We have many IM's in the field, they actually use the AR-450ND vrs the 455 regardless of models. Those machines still use 450 dv units and fuser units even though the rest has been updated, well minus the charge cleaner. I would start with putting in the 450ND and go from there.
