sharp mx5001n emergency download

I got a couple of 4101 and 5001n and they had been erase. I have the firmware on usb. but it says error in downloading the info. I did rename file and no luck. and rom error also. Any help would be nice. I have been working on these sharp for over 20years. I cant get into the service area. I have to do it from turn on the machine. Thanks for any help. clark

The only file that can be on your USB is the firmware so you have to open up the folder and just get the firmware file the FSU file that's the only thing that can be on the USB drive then you need to pull out the main board and flip the DIP switch in order for that to boot to USB.

Additionally you need to check to see if there's a security data kit on the machine that you're working on if so you need to make sure that you download an SDK firmware file and again the only thing that can be on the flash drive is just the file

Don't know it there is data security on machine. I just loaded the 1 file for firmware and all I get is data error. I did rename file emupdate_j2.sfu and still no luck. any thing else I should try. Thanks

Two different files if it has the DSK or not.

The file I have is un zip. I'm thinking I have the wrong file for this machine. It say on the jump drive firmware and data security. I removed the firmware to another jump drive just the firmware and no luck.

Go into sim22-10 and find security. If it says none you need the basic firmware for MFP, if it says it has a DSK you need to download the firmware for that DSK.

Cant go to simms. The machine is in emergency load only. Any other thoughts. Thanks

Slide the main board out of the right rear of the machine there will be two tiny switches at the top above the sd card. One will say update. Flip to update. Insert USB flash drive into slot and power up machine. Then use menu to select firmware update

Thanks but no luck. turn on switch and tried download and say data error. it also says unusal rom error. I cant think of anything else to do at this point. Thanks

Don't try to write rom. Hit menu then up until it says firmware update in upper left corner

I was in firmware update. and when I press start all it says is data error. thanks
