I can tell you this much:
The identity of the toner is stored on an EEPROM chip mounted on the rear of the toner cartridge. Either you can purchase new or re-program the EEPROMS. How to re-program or where to purchase EEPROMS? I have no idea. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I don't think you can rewrite EEPROMs

eeproms(Electrically Erasable Program Read Only Memory) are rewritable. Back in the day, copiers and the first MFP's had multiple eproms/eeproms instead of flash memory. dealers had rom burners or had to buy the individual roms from the manufacturer. some machines had 6 plus roms. I would try Alibaba website, they have a lot toner chips and copier parts and toner chip reprogrammers. Search the web for toner chips if it is a popular toner there is some one refilling or generic toner out there that may sell chips or toner.

Thanks for the heads up. Although we've only had to replace one EEPROM in a year so I don't know if it would be worth the expense for us. But it might be for somebody.

What about the "destination code" of the machine? I have never tried but worth a shot

These are the choices I have in the states. Not sure if there are different options elsewhere

The destination code is for fuser temperature, not for toner. A good thought though.

take out the cartridge,RUN SIMULATION data initial 80-09.
ll appear ERROR message U9-99 after it boot up, and dont worry.Set to ur country destination via sim26-6.
now put ur local original toner cartdrige (AR-310FT IF I NOT MISTAKE)
DONT FORGET RUN SIM25-02 BECAUSE UR COPIER SETTING RETURN TO DEFAULT VALUE after U RUN SIM 80-09

touch panel need to adjust sim 65-01
document size detector need to adjust sim41
by pass tray sensor need to adjust sim40
                lead edge adjustment sim 50

you better record all the settings before run the simulation 80-09
