    Light Cq

I have 2 Sharp mx-m363 copiers that do the same problem. The copies have very light cq, I did sim 10 adj .The copies will get back to normal. But after a few days the copies will go back to very light. I have replace the drum and developer on both machines but I cannot get it to consistently stay dark . Help !

Are you using a third party toner? I've had issues with 363's and non OEM toner.

I assume that you adjust your dev (25-2) with the toner bottle out...

It won't run that sim without the toner in it.

25-2 is run without the toner. The dev unit is using the toner in the developer to create the reference value.

Not in a 363. In color mfp you need to pull the toner but you will be unable to set density values in the black and white machines with the toner removed.

I'm not sure about the MXM363, but there are several B/W machines that do require the toner cartridge be removed when running 25-1/2 ; you may have to cheat the front door. Check the install manual. There was a shipload of machines that sat on the dock during a strike, and the toner add clutch plates rusted adding toner when not needed (overtoned).

Fortunately the machines usually throw up a "check toner!!!" When you have done it wrong.

Yeah on this series machines, toner should be pulled out for sim 25-2. Once or twice, we had to replace the complete dev unit as well as transfer to get back to a nice CQ. (one of our 363 is over 2000 0000 copies).

Below is from the mxm503n series SM page 4-3

                      Toner density control reference value
                      setting
This adjustment is needed in the following situations:
                      * When developer is replaced.
NOTE: Be sure to execute this adjustment only when developer is
replaced. Never execute it in the other cases.
                      1) With the front cabinet open, enter SIM 25-2.
When setting the toner density control reference value, pull out
                      the toner cartridge in advance
                      .
                      2) Close the front cabinet and press [EXECUTE] button.
