Sharp MX4100/3100/5001 black and color dev unit swap?

Ok, I got a whole bunch of used color dev units that are still good... bushings, mag belts, augers all intact from the boneyard. I came off the field the other day with a 4100 and 5001 black dev unit binding. I'm all out of black dev units to use.

question: can i use the color dev (CMY) in the black slot? I realize I need to vacuum out old color dev and re install w/black dev. The reason I ask is that the part numbers for each is one digit different (last digit DUNT-7457DS1/2/3/4).

Wondering if someone already tried this yet?

Also, swapping between 3100 and 4100, numbers are different, swappable?

The dev units have chip and can't be swapped unless you swap out the the wire harness on dev units.

The harnesses are pinned differently for each color, and for black. so not they will not interchange without alot of work.
