MX-5001N Copies with black edges on the page.

Hi again I have a problem with my MX-5001N. When I make a copy using the document glass, the copy shows a black line on the right edge of the page as well on the top right corner. When using the ADF there is no problem and the copies show no lines at all. If I use the document glass to scan the scans show the same lines.. The machine is printing fine b/w or color show no problems.

What could be the problem? Thank you for your help.

    From the platen glass only?

Have you cleaned and greased rails in the scanner assembly?

And perform lead edge registration, along with magnification?

HELP I FUCKED UP. Please Help guys I dropped the DSPF unit. I read the service manual but I read the wrong part and proceed to remove the DSPF unit but I didn't know it was so heave and I drop it. Some white plastic parts broke and when I close the DSPF the screen says "Close the DSPF" What can I do? Please help Im almost crying. Also when I close the DSPF the green button of the cover pops out and wont stay closed.

Relax. First check the operation of sensors.

Also, covers on these units are easy to replace and readily available.

Thanks for you reply, I did what you said and checked all the sensor from the ADF, the one sending this message was SCOV because the plastic that pushes the sensor flag was broken but using a little piece of paper I made it work. Now the problem, besides the cracks on the plastic covers, is that when I make a copy or scan a document the page pass without problems, but the feeding roller keeps trying to pull another sheet even if there is no other and sends a error message. Sorry if my explanation is not clear but here is a video of the issue.

              Oh boy...

First, what is the Jam code?

Secondly, it looks like to me that the sensor SPED is sensing still paper in the RSPF tray, causing the pick up roller to stay in the down position making that noise. Please check operation of sensors in Simulation 2, and look at SPED.

There is no jam code, it only says "a misfeed has occurred" but the pages that pass trough the adf are correctly sent to the pc or copied. Tomorrow I'll check the sensor you mention.

Thank you so much for your help.

Update, you were right it was the SPED sensor now its working again BUT now the copies and scans using the ADF have the bottom cut or to be more precise are moved down for about 1 CM. Here are the samples. Also, and I know I am a stupid for messing with things I shouldn't, but after reassembling the ADF I have one bolt left and I can't figure out where does it belong do you have any idea?

Again thank you so much for your help.

That is a shipping screw, I believe; don't worry about that one. There is an adjustment for the 1cm (front to rear) shift.

Thanks for the info about the bolt.

I have been trying to adjust the 1 cm void using SIM 50-12 and 50-6 but I can't can't figure it out. Am I using the correct sim? Or should I use 50-28?

TC 50-28 will get you in the 'ballpark'. You may have to tweek other adjustments to get rid of the black line.

So I better stay away from it? Right now what I need the most it is to adjust the 1 CM offset when using the ADF, but I had no luck.

UPDATE. SOLVED at least the ADF problem the option was 50-12 B and C, but instead of add I had to subtract to the value. Now I need to solve the original problem of the black lines on the edges when using the document table.

The black lines on the edges makes me think that the adf is not laying flat on the glass and one side is too high.

Is that scan of a blank page orare you scanning without a page on the glass?

First I would try realigning the white sheet, I believe it's attached by velcro. It's located on the adf unit, sits right on to of the document glass when the adf unit is closed. Remove the sheet. Place it flush on the glass, top left corner as you would a normal document. Close the ADF unit. The velcro should reattach, and the sheet is properly aligned.

If you copy for the glass, is there any skewing on the page? Copy a page that has straight lines, compare with the original.
