    MX5141 E7-11

Got a MX5141 roughly 200K poping an E7-11 every time you go into copy mode or scan mode. We have replaced the SCN PWB and LED PWB on the scan unit. Still nothing. Both the DSPF lamp lights up and the mirror lamps light up.

In test command 63-2 OC shading test fine, DSPF shading errors out.

You can remove the DSPF and go flattop and it still pops the E7-11

Reference sheets look just fine no visible markings

The unit still prints and receives faxes just fine.

Any ideas would help a ton

    Re: MX5141 E7-11

    E7-11 is scanner related.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Cause:
Abnormality in the CCD white reference plate scan level when the scanner lamp is turned ON.
Improper installation of the harness to the CCD unit.
Dirt on the mirror, lens, and the reference white plate.
    Scanner lamp lighting trouble.
    Scanner lamp drive PWB trouble
    CCD unit abnormality.
    SCU PWB abnormality.

    Solutions:
Check & Remedy Check connection of the harness to the CCD unit.
Check connection of the harness to the scanner lamp
    unit.
Check or replace the scanner lamp.
Check or replace the scanner lamp drive PWB.
Clean or replace the mirror, the lens, and the
    reference white board.
Check or replace the CCD unit.
Check or replace the SCU PWB.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Start simple.... Since you've already replaced the SCN and LED PWB and the lamp lights up, I'm leaning towards CCD.

I agree with the CCD, but; first, make sure is plugged into a 20amp outlet, we had issues with one that was plugged into a 15 amp outlet and had kinds of error codes because of it.

I agree with the post about checking to make sure they have adequate power with a line monitor. Second could be SCU or led driver pwd. versions must match!!!! newer style with newer SCU...there is a bulletin on this. i have never had to replace the ccd for this. usually the scu or driver board, or a reflash. make sure white reference plate is not damaged also.

They did not change the LED pwb for this model.

Besides already replaced it with a brand new one and no change.

Also just replaced the CCD and code went away for about 2 days. Came back now. I am going to try and replace the CCD cable as well.

As of right now list of parts replaced

            LED PWB
            SCN PWB
            CCD

I realize that the led board was not changed. I was making reference to the new style CCD unit with new sytle scn board. There is a bulletin about mixing those will cause e7-11.

Also that tech bulletin does not refer to this model. There has been no change to either CCD or SCN pwb or LED PWB for this particular model.

Besides all are brand new anyway so there shouldnt be a problem with version mismatch. I just find it weird after replacing the CCD the problem went away for 2 days. Nothing else made any difference to my problem until the CCD was replaced.

Also I did check the power and everything seems fine there currently have an MX5111N hooked up in place as a loaner for now.

I am wondering if it is possible my problem may lay in the DSPF. While I did remove the DSPF and go flat top style and still had a constant E7-11 I am wondering if this model does not support not having the DSPF.

Unfortunately this is the only model of these I have in the field and can not test this theory anywhere else. I know on most models you can unhook the ADF's but not sure I have ever tried it on a DSPF.

If you removed the dspf the white reference plate is gone and that's why you're getting e7-11. You have to disable it to go flat from what I remember.

Unplug the doc feeder and see if you get the error. If not, the CIS unit (CCD) inside the DSPF is most likely bad. Machine will operate in all other ways beside the doc feeder......

Did you ever find a fix on this. We have one that throws the E7-11. It prints and faxes fine, but will shoot black copies through the DF and off the glass. Tech is currently going through changing the scanner control board and the CCD, but don't know the results of that yet.
                        Thanks for any help.

It turns out the CCD unit we got was bad. We ordered another CCD unit and installed it. Works great,

also we had to adjust optical cables etc.. and tweak a lot to get the image back into alignment. after replacing the CCD, so expect some issue with the alignment being off a little after replacement.
