    Sharp AL 1631 jamming

I have a customer with a Sharp AL 1631. The copier is jamming frequently. The paper makes a flapping noise. I do not see anything interferring with the paper path. I copier also makes a grinding noise, like gears catching, when this happens the copy has part of the image compressed. I guess that the copy has stopped, and the drum continues to turn. Could the fuser be bound, and jump the gears, and cause the paper to stall.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

It's very common for the ring gear on the upper fuser roller to split. There are also three other gears in the main drive pack that commonly fail, but I'd look a the fuser gear first. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
