    Sharp MX-950M Job Stuck

So this is a new one for me, I have a job that continually prints out of the printer. I can't find it in in any printer queue on our network. But every time I restart the printer this same job tries to print. Is there a way that I can clear out the printer's queue somehow?

    Thanks,

sim 66-10 will clear print queue on machine......but if in someones print queue it will be back.

Is machine shared off server? if so look at print queue on server and clear it

If you turn off the machine and unplug the network cable and then restart the machine and it does not try to print then it is in someone's print que. When you then plug the network cable in again and it tries to print it is definitely in someone's computer.

So I ran Sim 66-10 and restarted without the network plug installed. Plugged in the network cable and everything seemed fine at first. Then the job came back again. The printer is not installed on our server, but looks like I'll be going to all workstations to make sure I don't have a file hung up somewhere. I'll let you all know what I find out.

        Thanks,

It's not always practical, but sometimes you have to look at every PC, every driver (Sharp or not) to find the queue that holds this print job. From what you've said, I conclude that the stuck job resides on somebody's PC, not in the printer.

If you still can't find the job, you can change the printers IP, then change the IP in each of the drivers. Eventually somebody will bitch that they can't print, then you'll find the job. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

check the job log, that should show what computer the print job came from

They may have had a new device installed that is sending information to the IP address that your copier has.

I have had this happen several times.

I agree you should supply a new IP address to the copier and add a new port to each of the computers for this address.

                  Re: Sharp MX-950M Job Stuck

There's actually a couple of possibilities. This is what I'd do:

                  1. Check EVERY Server(s)/PC(s)/MAC(s) for uncleared print job(s) sent to SHARP MFP queue.
                  2. Check EVERY Server(s)/PC(s)/MAC(s) for uncleared print job(s) sent to SHARP MFP IP via other queue.
                  3. Check EVERY Server(s)/PC(s)/MAC(s) for the SHARP MFP printer driver used. Remove and reinstall if necessary.
                  4. If 1-3 doesn't help and print job tends to originate from a single source, check your network connectivity/adapter/cable/outlet.
                  5. If none of the above solves your problem, repeat 1-4 and check "outside" sources (e.g. remote PCs/MACs, VPNs).

Hopefully your problem will go away after performing the above.

PS: If this is a new install replacing a previous MFP, I'd suggest you to use a new IP address, like others have suggested.

                  Cheers!

If you can catch it the job status while it's printing it may give you the computer or user name sending the print job. Had to do this many times. Had a corrupt rogue print job one time that kept shutting the MFP down. Narrowed it down to a computer with the job in queue, and when I asked the user what they were trying to print, it was a webpage..... with an embedded video. Printers don't like printing videos. :-)

The job log will show what printed, who printed it, what they printed, yadda yadda yadda. It will tell you everything you want to know about every copy. print or scan job. If it came to the machine, it will be in the job log. If you are getting jobs but no record in the log, this is usually something on there network; I call it a "network dump". A packet capture would clear all of this up.

As to print memory, you can dump the PRINTER memory using SIM 67-17. However, this will effect several network settings and a backup should be done before running it. 66-10 is for fax memory clearing only....

Thanks for all of the help everyone, I ended up changing the IP address on our network. This is for our in-house machine in our repro shop so it was an easier solution than trying to hunt down the rouge machine imo. Since the IP change everything has been working just fine. I should add that this particular job hadn't been sent to the printer in at least a couple of weeks, so I really have no idea where it even came from. I'll chalk it up to black magic and wizardry and see if the phantom job comes back!

                        Thanks,
