    3070-6070 Desk Units "Sinking"

I was just curious if anyone else has noticed issues with the DE27 / DE28 units for these machines? I have had several of the desk units literally start sinkiing into themselves. They cannot support the weight of the machines and the castors drive up into the bottom of the tray 4 paper drawer. Tandem units seem to be the worst as the hold they most paper, thus more weight. I recently had one sinking on a regular 3 drawer unit.

On top of the sinking, I have seen several issues with paper feed drive belt tension as well. The belts being so loose as they can be easily squeezed together with little effort; the belts skip due to this lack of tension.

    Symptoms of these issues include:
*TRAY3 / TRAY4 generic jams in the error log
*difficultly opening tray 4 or tandem trays
*shavings under the lowest trays with scaring on the underside of the paper tray
*vertical transport jams in area between desk and tray 1 (PPD)
*light grinding noise from belts jumping / skipping.

    Thank you all in advance.

Do you lower the levelers on the cabinet when you install the copiers?

This may prevent the castors from sinking into the cabinet.

Don't buy a sharp copier that ends with a 70,
stay away, they are one of your enemies.
But just in case you've purchased one accidentally...
Congratulations! On your own wallet's death penalty.

I don't know if this is any help to you, but the VoyagerE series of Kyoceras had the same problem. A light B&W machine like the FalconIII never had this problem. But the same two drawer paper feed base would begin to collapse under the weight of a VoyagerE. The symptom was paper jamming at the finisher entrance, since the finisher stayed the same height.

What I did was cut some donut shapes out of Luan (3/16" plywood underlayment). Apply some carpet tape to one side, and stick them to the paper feed base. The difficult part was finding somebody willing to help me lift the machine to the floor, then back onto the base. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes, but even upon the levelers, the machines will still sink. We jacked one up on 1/31/18 and by 2/14/18, the machine had re-sunk to the point of causing jams. That "metal" is just so flimsy that once it bends, it is never the same.

I have had two 6070's, in different sites, break the plastic regulation plate from the rear of tray 3 and 4 on a DE28 (Tandem). Originally I put it down to rough users, although I still didn't understand how they managed to do it. Today I had another one. What I found today was that the tandem trays seem to be catching on tray2 above. When I tried to open tray2 it was catching on this regulation plate below. I then thought back to this post of mojo's from some time back. I will return to assess further, but I'm thinking this may be the same case also.
