Have you checked the hinges for breakage or alignment such as loose screws?

I know I had a similar jamming issue on a b/w Sharp a long time ago, jamming when original reach the slit glass and a 'Check SPF/RSFP' error if I remember correctly.

The fix was to clean optics/white reference as it looked somehow the scanner won't find his home position for Doc scans, I might be wrong as I don't know your current model.

I had one, same feeder but different machine doing that. I replaced the sensors even though they tested to be working. Did not fix. It ended up being the feeder control board.
