MX-4111N Loosing Developer

Hi Guys,

I have a 4111 that I picked up from another company. I went out to it about 1,600 copies ago and changed the developer. The copies came back ok, but now the developer is low again. It's obvious on the mag roller that there's not enough developer on it.

I'm not trained on this machine. I ran the SP25-2 dev setting. Is there anything else that needs to be done on a developer change?

It's a known issue with a few threads here. You want to hit it with dev unit, process unit, drum, mk and make sure waste bottle isn't reused or have missing seals.

There is a mod to the dv unit to increase air flow......

Charge unit gets caked with toner and drum begins to pull dv from unit. More than likely what you are seeing is a diagonal striping on copies if you do a sky shot.

How many copies on this unit color, and black. I do not suggest to replace the DV unit. The unit is not a very common cause of DV push. I think that is a waste of money to ddo, but your call. I would agree with all the others on the other items to replace.

check seal just above the mag roller, if damaged....this will cause dusting and contaminate the charge grid, which in turn will cause pcq and dv pull

and dont use "fake" toner...cause of all developer pulling on these machines...

Virgo 1 machines pull DV like a dentist pulls teeth....
Remove the drum unit and check the grounding clip and the corresponding rail. If theses are coated in toner, which is very common in this series, you will lose drum ground and DV pull will occur.
As mentioned above, there are retrofitted covers for the DV unit. DO NOT attempt to vacuum the filters as they will shred and cause voids on the mag roll.
FYI, if the filter is already frayed, a quick run over the filter with a lighter can bring the filter back to life. Just singe it, don't cook it.
Another thing I always do is to remove the cover right beneath the mag roll. There is a grounding clip on the R end and toner/DV collects inside the cover, causing all sorts of issues.
Also, as mentioned above, the 510mk have a retrofit. The retrofit is literally tape on both ends of the charge grid, very easy to see if it is an updated part. Make sure your drums are not worn to the core on the ends; this models will exhibit this as well.
