    [Jamming] MX5141 w\FN18 saddle stitch

Customer running a saddle stitch job and machine runs out of staples in the rear saddle stitch stapler.

    Staples replaced.....

Now machine will pull a sheet from tray one and run it as if it is going to saddle stitch. ( I assume it is doing this to advance new staples into staple head)

However machine shows jam that does not reset.

    Has any one seen this?

    TIA

The one sheet being feed is to prime stapler, do both sides staple when priming? If one is not that could be the cause for jam.

Remove the saddle stitch staple cart and look into the cavity it sits in. At eh bottom is a very small black door, it is the cart present sensor. I have seen these pop off and give similar issues. Also, not sure why, but it seems to like Legal sized paper for the priming. Just something I have noticed over the years.

Got it....Turns out FSPDD sensor was bad. What threw me off track was the fact that when machine was put into No Misfeed detect, machine would tell me to "Put Saddle stitch staple unit:" into correct position......from there I "Zigged" when I should have "Zagged". Once again turning a relatively simple problem into a complex one.

        Thanks
