[Misc] Sharp MX 4111 Customer can't copy a check in color

This customer says they try to copy a check that someone has wrote them and it says "check original" they then hit OK. The copier will spit out a blank page. Then says erasing data. Thinking that this is some anti counterfeit feature. Not sure what to tell the customer. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks !!

did they try scanning in B&W mode only?
