    Sharp AR-M350 EF-1 Issue

    Have a EF1 that I thought was good - had replaced. Yesterday, went to duplex and message came up that the B/W scan was out of order. Cleared with SIMMS. Now I try to use the Doc Feed, it says, Please wait.

    Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions.

      There are two possibilities that come quickly to mind:

      1) The connector may be poorly mated from the SPF to the MFP PWB. Also check for bent pins.

      2) The main wiring harnass for the SPF can produce this sort of wierd symptom. I know it sounds scary, but the spf wiring harnass is only 4 feet long, and not such a big deal to change. Usually when the harnass is bad there is some sort of problem scanning with the CIS (the backside of a two-sided original). =^..^=

          Black cat is correct. I have seen quite a few harness problems with these feeders. Some cause the exact symptom you are experiencing and sometimes it will print from the CIS in black and white reverse. If you replace the harness watch out for pinching wires when you place the top portion of the feeder back on.

                  The most interesting effect I've seen from the main harnass was the second side image reduced anywhere from 85% to 50% only in the feed direction, only on the second side, with random pixels missing from the image. On the next second side the missing pixels showed up in the exact pattern, like magic. It was just bizarre.

                      FYI- I am pretty sure that DHAi-3166FCZZ is the part number for the harness. Also, I think Sharp changed it so there is no large tie wrap on the part that is exposed between the feeder and the optic unit.

                              Final Solution

                              This is how I finally resolved my EF1 issue.

                              I waited to get this resolved. Had a client in need of Doc Feed Motor(s) - running very bad. Decided to swap out their Scanner with the one I had that was in need of repair (what eventually thought would be the Scanner PWB). With this EF1, I had gotten, not one but two PWB from Sharp - First one I got I thought was bad - returned it and got another one. Thought it was bad - but then thought after reading the postings that it really could be the harness - changed the harness with no positive results. System was still wouldn't work right.

                              Anyways, I swapped the two EF1's out with this client I spoke of. I took the Scanner PWB out of the client's system and put in the one I was giving them - everything went great!

                              It turns out that Sharp not only gave me one bad board, but two bad boards. I wish this was the Lottery then I could say I won something. This issue took about 20-hours of work, gas, and not to mention more than $300.00 cash to find the fix.

                              Now if I want, I can take the Brand New Board I go from Sharp, send it back to them or Hytech, and get it repaired for between $75 to $125 + Shipping to get it fixed. Only in America!

                                  On your particular problem usually I do a 63-2 DSPF Shading adj. Cover slit glass with white paper and run the setup. Sometimes 63-7. Set it to whatever works 15-30
