    sharp jam codes arm450

we have a machine giving us fits that the jam code is TPFD2S1. as we read the book this should be a tandem tray code in the left side of tandem tray. are we wrong? when we get to machine it won't jam. but for them it jams all the time. we put new tires on and re ran paper but could not duplicate. we swapped machines out and brough machine to office and ran 1000 copies, no jam. Machine we just installed is now having same problem. their paper seems ok. their calls say machine is folding paper and the one time tech was on site to see it (they left it jammed untill he arrived) it appeared the paper was pushed thru fuser and next rollers did not turn which would indicate a one way clutch failing. we happened to have a new reversing unit which we installed but problem not solved. Thats when we swapped machine. Any body want to tell us we're looking in the wrong place and maybe point us in the right direction. in general we like these machines but a few of them don't want to cooperate
    any help appreciated

Sharp did have a big change to the clutches on the desk units some time ago. (they call them 5K clutches- whatever) Check bullitens, I had a few desk units that needed the new clutches and it did take care of the problem, which was intermittent jams from the desk unit.

If you mean "TPFD2STD1", yes that's tray one jam from the left deck. The jam that you removed from the delivery is deceiving. The delivery/turnover motor can stop much more quickly than the main motor driving the fuser. The Z-folded page is a consequence of the deck jam, not a cause.

I had two of these decks that intermittently jammed (2 jams in 200 pages). They were high volume users, and this was a big problem for them. Between myself, and two other techs we replaced every part but the welded metal frame, and never figured it out. It's not an ideal solution, but we found a used two drawer base to replace the uncooperative deck.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
