Sharp MX-4141n. Everytime I use the ADF to make copies/scan/etc it will give a misfeed error code. Machine prompts to open the door and check for misfeeds, however nothing is ever there. If I simply just lift the door and close it, the error clears.....however it does it everytime. Any pointers on what may be causing this?

Re: Sharp MX-4141N Phantom Paper Jam
What is the jam code? If it is SPPD5 then check that sensor, it tends to hang up and will cause this situation. Have also had small bits of paper get into the SPPD3 sensor area and cause a similar problem.
Good luck.

Like bilyahn said...What is the jam code? Not a whole lot of info to go on? What have you done? What are the parts counts? It is extremely hard to diagnose over the internet without any pertinent info.......The Moose is loose!!Comment

Re: Sharp MX-4141N Phantom Paper Jam
It seems you want an easy answer for the misfeeds. Misfeeds are caused by several things 1. worn rollers replace them. 2 dirty sensors clean them. 3 objects in paper path remove them. 4. defective components sensors, motors, clutches, boards. replace them. You start by looking at sims and finding what code is being shown then go to manual and find out what code means usually it will say a specific sensor is not being activated at the correct time or that it is activated when it shouldn't be . Test components with sims and observe what is happening if paper jams and has a dent in lead edge then maybe there is a paperclip blocking it. If you are an inexperienced tech you need to get with a more experienced one & have him guide you. If you are an end user you need to pay someone who has the training to solve your issue.
Good luckComment

Re: Sharp MX-4141N Phantom Paper Jam
One last thought. This unit has a single pass duplexing document feeder. I had a customer that was not latching the door when she closed it. It will run somewhat in that condition. Push the door down and listen for the latch to click in place.Comment
