    Sharp Network Gurus

I've got a few Sharp network problems I'm working on.
    1. Trying to get an AR-153E to work on Vista 64bit (don't ask). There are no drivers avail for download, I've tried the AR-168S with a Print Server attached. There are no GDI drivers for anything close. Am I SOL ?

    2. Law firm has an AR-M550N & an MX-4501N. I can't get the network scanner tool to add the MX as a scanner. When I use it to search, I can see the IP pop up, but it never comes up & if I manually add it, I get an error. The only thing I can see is that it's running 3.2, maybe upgrade to the newer 3.21?

    Thanks for any help.
    Hope that helps !

Need a little more info for both of your questions.

    1) You said you were looking for a driver for 153E, right? What does that have to do with the 168? Or did you just try to use that driver? Sorry, I wasn't trying to be funny, but just needed a little more info.

    2) When using Network Scanner Tool, the IP is found? That normally is all that is needed if you can select it. Or is it locking up where you can't select any of the options to configure scanner?

      O, thanks for the reply.

There are no 153 drivers on Sharpusa or IDNC so I tried the 168 since they are basically the same machine. There is no 64 bit GDI driver for any of these. I even looked at the 208S. I tried the PPD & PCL drivers with a print server attached. The job would disappear from the queue but never print. Same thing happened when I tried the USB.

When I searched for scanners, you could see it find the IP address as it was scanning, but it doesn't come up in the list to be able to select it. If I try to manually add the scanner it gives me an error.

      Thanks for any help.
      Hope that helps !

        Hi Tony,

        Info for your MX machines......

Cannot automatically locate an MX2300-4501 series machine when using the Network Scanner Tool for Sharpdesk v3.2 . If the MFP is then added manually, an error occurs.

When using a proxy server, add the full IP address of the MFP into the exceptions list -
Open Internet Explorer Properties, "Connections", "LAN Settings (local area network settings)", "Proxy Server settings", "Advanced" and then add the IP address of the MFP into the list of exceptions BEFORE INSTALLING/RUNNING THE NST. In this way, any communication with the copier will not be directed to the network proxy server.
Also, if HTTP 1.1 is disabled within Internet Explorer 6, again, the Network Scanner Tool will fail to locate the MFP device.
