    Sharp AL-

Toner light stays on. Orignal problem, toner drive motor grear was busted.
Installed new motor from sharp. Did complete pm and new toner cartridge. Light stayed off for about 100 copies and then came on, will not go out. Did test command 10 motor turning. Where do I go next.

    Thanks for your help.

      Re:Sharp AL-1640

Imagetech, thanks for responding to my post. The problem is with a Sharp AL-1640, I beleive it is on same liner as the AR-160 Have found out too much toner in refill carthidge will cause problems. Does this take same moter as AR-160? Again your help is apprerciated.

        Re:Sharp AL-1640

not sure if we are talking about the right box. sharp made an AL-1610 it was same as AR-160 this machine will copy 11x17 the smaller AL-1640 will not and is not the same motor. double chek the toner cart as they have the toner sensor inside. i marke the gear on the cartridge to make sure the motor is turning the gear.(under load).

ok with you now. the number i have RMOTD0016QSZZ the O after is NOT a zero. the last three will change as sharp has a new style motor. there is another motor out there but i goes in the AR-162 and it rotates backwards. the number i gave you above is for the AR-160 and that is what you want. by the way another broken motor? was it from old stock? the new style has a metal shaft. good luck
