MXM5071 problems printing complete documents from remote workers

Workers are trying to print documents from remote locations. Document will print a few pages and that is it, nothing else. No error messages nothing to tell the customer that the document did not print. Have had this type of problem throughout the years with trying to print large documents from the internet with varying levels of success in correcting the problem but that was with local clients (in the same office) not remote users. Not sure what if anything that can be done with this but of course the remote workers can print the same document to the HP printer not 10 ft away from the copier. I have limited or no access to the clients networks as this is a state network but any suggestions or action plans that I can forward to the local IT would be greatly appreciated. Unit was setup with standard defaults and a static IP address.

Thank you for your time and effort in this matter.

Strange issue, I looked on Sharp's website for bulletins concerning this issue and could not find anything. Have you tried lowering compression rates to medium quality or maybe changing printer properties to print directly to the printer instead of spooling it at the pc?

What do you mean by 'remote locations'?

      Is this with site-to-site vpn?
      vpn on a laptop?
      via rdp or local?

Good question and I do not have the answer. I will ask the client when I see them on tuesday. I'm not 100% sure if it is only 1 remote worker or all of them. Remote for this purpose are users logging into the state network from their homes on state issued laptops so I am assuming a vpn of some sort.

        Thank you.

Are they using wsd drivers or Sharp drivers? That would be something else to look at.

Why is it that the WSD driver has so many issues? I try to let them know not to use the WSD driver but it seems to have a way of always showing up and being the default whenever people are having print issues. LOL

Thank you everyone for the responses and I appreciate the input.

            Have a great day.

You can turn off the WSD in the copier's printer port settings.

If you do this windows will no longer load a WSD driver.

As Spanky has mentioned you can turn off wsd in security settings, port control. We try to do this to all of our machines that leave the office as the automatic Windows (wsd) drivers suck!

Thank you, I found this setting yesterday, I was not aware of it before. It was actually turned off.

Found out that one remote worker had a print issue that is causing all of this. Since there is no way to verify that the print job has been completed and all pages have printed they stopped printing remotely. I talked with them about the print release feature but they're not interested. One thing I did notice is that bidirectional communication was turned off, I turned it back on....

Thank you for all of the suggestions.

Re: MXM5071 problems printing complete documents from remote workers

I don't know how pertinent it is ... probably not at all ... but I had a customer with a VoyagerE (CS-C4035E) that had these exact same symptoms. The first few pages would print, there might be a long delay, then it would maybe print a couple more, or just drop the job altogether. When I put my laptop on the network cable and ran a continuous ping back to the print server I would get very long ping times, then completely lose connection for three pings at a time.

After a bit of investigating we discovered that that particular network cable exceeded the 100 meter length limit. The signal to that printer was very weak.

At this particular customer I had the opportunity to identify several of their network issues ... but never did find out how it was solved. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I would think a switch half way would handle it ... no?
