Why just the cyan? We change ALL drums just in case and then change the cyan dv. Also has anyone found a 1 spin piece of a spring in the machine? This is the second time we have found a tiny piece of a spring laying inside of the process area. It sucks because you cant buy just the cyan dv and I hate ruining a package of color dv at about $600.00. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

When that happens we usually replace the drum unit of the color that is being depleted, the developer unit, and the waste toner container. In some instances we have been able to see where the developer is being depleted in the drum unit, you need to remove the drum cylinder and the plastic tab on top was being damaged by the plastic auger in the drum unit. -

I've found more often then not that the contacts or corona is contaminated. The developer is dusting a lot, a toner supply chute may have a bad seal, or more rarely but not impossible, the contact block might have a problem.Comment

Re: 5050 and 5070 Cyan DV being depleated.
There is a problem with some machines where the seal under the cleaning blade is not attached properly, causing dusting of the charge. this will pull DV.Comment

Re: 5050 and 5070 Cyan DV being depleated.
There is a bulletin about the blanking lamp getting covered in toner and a mylar thats not installed properly from factory and drum units that cause the blanking lamp to become dusted. I think DV pulling is one of the symptoms. REP2393.pdf

Re: 5050 and 5070 Cyan DV being depleated.
You can use Black developer in place of a colour developer, run about 200 sky shots/ or test prints of that colour and it will return back to the original colour, saves spending a fortune on a whole new pack of developer, the only cost is the extra toner used and 200 sheets of paper👍Comment

Re: 5050 and 5070 Cyan DV being depleated.
Good question. Why always the cyan. We have seen this on previous models as well. Specifically 5111 and 5141. Maybe others. Sharp told us the only time they had seen it, it was because of non-OEM waste containers. We were using Katun containers, so we switched to only Sharp containers. This helped with the number of incidents, but there are still several machines that continue to pull Cyan. Just saw it on brand new 5070 with the waste container that came with it. Huge pain in the backside, and time consuming cleanup. Eventually the solenoid that opens laser shutters gets contaminated with cyan developer, requiring major tear down to get to the solenoid to clean or replace. We did that the first time, then started removing the shutters because its quick. It also usually abrades the primary transfer belt. Very costly in parts and labor. I have very bad taste in my mouth for these machines as a result. Electrical properties of cyan must make it more susceptible.Comment

A quick search found only a few places online that sell colors individually. Very high mark up.Comment

Re: 5050 and 5070 Cyan DV being depleated.
The partial spring that you are finding is probably a ground spring from the primary belt unit. As the black primary roller engages into position, it should slide on the frame of the belt unit, but will get bent and eventually break. Usually falls on the PTC and sometimes throws a C4 code.
