    Double feed DSPF MX5071

We are having a lot of clients who report double feeds from the DSPF.

Rollers have been swapped, torque limiter too, but even brand new machines give this problem.

    Any solutions for this one?

Oops, posted in the wrong one earlier. My apologies.

Any new tips or updates to this. I gave it a quick try and didn't seem to help. I'm going to go back and try to form the spring a little better, bit I was tight on time

Doesnt seem to work here either...

Also tried changing the rollers to MX850DF

              Double feed still happens.

Sharp told us to buy a professional scanner...instead of an MX6071. Not kidding

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping if I am able to take my time and actually make a decent hook, it might help. I ordered a couple springs to "play with" as well

Wow. Sharp really is going downhill.

We have recently had 4 machines start doing this and multiple calls did not fix them. Two customers with two machines. Title company and law office so lots of scanning. As 4 machines started multi feeding through the ADF within weeks I thought there may me more to it than just equipment failure. New rollers and tweeking the resist spring all sorts of ways and still they kept calling in. Replacing the front sep plate had short term success with one machine, PSHEP5161FCZZ. I decided to go have a look.

Put the copier in Original Count mode and loaded 10 new pieces of paper from their tray into the ADF. Consistantly it would mutil feed, not double feed. It would feed 4 pages at once to the resist/feed in roller and then pulled all 4 through. Sometimes it would would stop and give a "Check original size" message as the ADF would seperate two pages a little bit and the copier would see the original as 8.5"+. Over and over it would count 10 pages as 5 or 6. Replaced the new MX-753DF ADF rollers with the MX-850DF . Shortened the spring twice and it still multi fed. Pulled a 22-6 out of my tool case from a previous call (6 pages) and loaded them in the ADF. Original Count over and over came back as 6 pages as it should. I ask the customer what paper they buy. They showd me a ream of paper with a generic label that did not show a name brand anywhere. They said they recently started buying it and they didn't like it. I told them it was still mutli feeding and we would follow up.

Rebuilt an ADF in the shop and had a tech take it out and swap it. Tested their ADF today in house and it was still mutli feeding. I did find the seperation clutch was not working when I rotated the adf motor by hand. Turned it one way and then the other and the sep roll stood still both ways. Installed a new torque limiter PCLC-0397FCZZ and then rotated the motor. The sep roller would turn both ways but could be halted when holding finger tight. I do believe our issue was a failed sep roller torque limiter PLUS the generic paper.

Plans are to install new torque limiters on the other 3 machines along with a MX-850DF. We will also replace the shortened sep springs with new ones.

The best way to fix this is to use the tension spring and seperation pad from a CR5.

Done this so many times and it has fixed the issue every single time
