    MX-5071 Envelopes Tray 1

Just wanted to see if and how far anyone else has been down this rabbit hole before I go to far. The newer Sharps have the ability to run envelopes from Tray 1 but only COM9 and Monarch size(No COM10 for because Reasons???) Has anybody experimented with doing custom size/media type for Tray 1 for COM10 Envelopes with success. We haven't had sales promise this yet but you know its gonna eventually happen !

As I understand it NO COM-10.

Now ask me to explain the logic behind the decision to exclude COM-10...

A COM9 envelope is the envelope that comes inside the COM10 envelope when you get a bill. This spec is also verified in the service manual as COM9 and Monarch only. What a bunch of maroons!

OK mansart, please explain the logic.

It is insanity as it's highest. If it was only larger envelopes it would make some sense, but as Mojo said a COM9 is smaller. Pretty sure its going to be a no go, but wanted to see if others had already tried!

            Are you sure?

            Because the brochure found here:

            Says right in the bottom:

Bypass tray: 16-28 lb. bond (plain paper), 13-16 lb. bond (thin paper), 28 lb. bond-110 lb. cover (heavy paper), tab paper (letter) and Monarch/Com-10 envelopes. Also label, gloss, preprinted, recycled, pre-punched, letterhead and color paper or OHP film.

                From the 4071 service manual:
                4071 specs.pdf

What Sales should be selling is a solution that prints the COM10 from the bypass, the COM9 from tray 1 and the letter going into the envelope from tray 2. Churches are the first customers to come to mind.

But....we all know what Sales will do......
"Sure, you can run envelopes from the trays, its right here in the brochure"

We have been running com 10 envelopes in tray one (just letting the copier say com 9 and the computer com 9) not enough difference in size to cause a problem.
