    MX5070 toner motor replacement

I find myself needing to replace the black toner motor in an MX5070N. Having not done this particular fix before, any guidance you lot can provide would be helpful. The service manual is of no use.

Give yourself plenty of time. This is a monster to replace. My boss just spent about 3 hours doing one in the field. Didn't get to see how he did it so that's about all I have. Had to remove at least one board possibly two and when he put it all back together it got a C1-40 error. Fortunately it was just a loose connection LOL

    Good luck

Remove center dump or RB unit.

      Remove toner cartridges

Remove plastic tray assembly that the toner carts slide into

Toner motors are all right there

Wait, so which is it? Do I go in through the boards or through the front?

Toner motors on this model are replaced through the back of the machine.
Remove Developers, Drums, and Primary Transfer Belt
          Remove RB/TU
          Remove Toner Cartridges
Remover Frame Upper Cover (Parts manual page 196 Item #1 part #PCOVP2700FCA2)
          Remove all three back panels
          Remove MFPC-SCN Pwb
Remove MFPC Stay (Parts manual page 186 item #8 part # LSTYM0638FCZ1)
Remove toner motor (2 screws and 5 connectors - one of the connectors is disconnected in the process cavity of the machine)

Replacement should take around 1.25 hrs to 1.5 hrs

We have SEVERAL problem machines that burn through these motors. It's pretty frustrating.

The first thing I'd do is get a service manual.
