    Cannot color calibrate BP70C65

    Greetings, fairly new technician here.

A BP machine that has only 30,000 prints was starting to show low density color prints. It is affecting YMC but most notably on the Yellow.

I've tried to recalibrate using 44-27 then 44-26 but it was throwing the error "Other: Y." To dig deeper, I ran 44-02 and the PCS sensors seems to be functioning but when I run 44-06 function high density/low, it gives me the error code: "Y_HV_ERR." (Y high density process control abnormality.) I continued with the procedure and ran 46-74 but the machine fails finish the process.

So far i've replaced the PCS sensor and gave it a firmware update but no success. Any ideas?

    -Thanks PW

    Hi
I had the same error about 10 days ago, with F2-43 in SIM 22-6
Unfortunately I had to replace the Yellow Developer and the Main Charger Roller because there was hardly any Developer left in the Developer unit. Remove the yellow unit and the cyan unit and please check the developer's filling quantities. You'll notice that cyan is fuller than yellow. Why he lost the developer, I have no idea, Sharp Germany has already been informed. The firmware versions for me were the latest, only original consumables and no 70k pages.
Please also test 1-color printouts, i.e. only yellow, then magenta and then cyan. You will notice “cloud formation.”

Although they tell you not to (though I'm pretty sure it's because that's how it has always been), you could try running 25-2 to remix the DV for the yellow. Had a 3071 that kept going light as if it was old after only 2 years in the field(75k), and spinning DV would bring it back for a few weeks. Eventually we replaced the DV unit and yellow DV and haven't had an issue since over a year.

        [Solved]

OlliK was correct, I didnt notice it at first but indeed the yellow DV seemed emptier than the rest. I went ahead and refilled that, replaced the drum assembly as it potentially may be the cause, and recalibrated using sim44-27/26/6/2, sim46-74

Prints look much better and the density is restored.

        -Much thanks, PW

There is a tech bulletin about it dumping dv during delivery, waste box needs tape put back on, that was removed during setup. We have had several service calls for light copies/prints on the bp model.

I think if you do 25-1 it will spin the developers without changing the toner setting from 25-2, at least thats how I thought it works. Also I think it brings the toner level up if low, to the toner sensor level.

Though it does, 25-2 does a great job at fully remixing, and I've had it fix a lot of issues. Especially now, there is no DV counter, so 25-2 doesn't matter for consumable life management
