    MX_M904 w/ MX-FN22 - stapling issue

If I ask the finisher to do 2 staples, it will only staple the front staple and does not even attempt to do the rear staple. No noise or marks on page that would indicate that it even tried. If I set it to staple 1 staple in the front or rear, it works. This is not saddle stitch stapling. I have flashed firmware to latest for the machine and I also flashed the FN22 specific firmware. Replaced Finisher PWB and PCU PWB, with the same issue. Sharp would like me to replace the stapler, but I do not see how that is possible. I was thinking of replacing the Process Unit. Has anyone else run into this issue?

The rear staple should be stapled first and then the front staple. I would think that there should be some kind of error if it was a sensor or mechanical. The other odd part, if I understand correctly from the technical description, is that the paper should be pushed towards the front for the front staple only for A4R and LTRR, but it pushes it towards the front when it is LTR. Maybe I am reading too much into it.

    Thank you for any help.

Wait, is someone actually stapling like that? In 10 years I've never seen someone want stapling like that... Have you tried a CN Update to fully flash the firmware, and go from there? Otherwise, I would also look into a Canon equivalent, one time our rep gave me a canon manual to fix an FN22 with a clutch issue.

Yes and it is a municipality. I will try the firmware on Monday. I will see if I can find the Canon equivalent and research.

I have tried the CN update and I have taken the stapler section apart and did not find anything out of the ordinary and I cleaned the different components, like sensors. Same issue. Customer does not find it to be a huge deal right now and will be looking into a new copier in the new year.
