[Error Code] Sharp MX-4070V fax sending fails

Faxing fails with error code 02(0023) G3. I've had this error with both a pots line and a voip line with a grandstream converter (current config) I have ECM unchecked and have tried digital line both checked and unchecked with the same outcome. The fax receives just fine. Can someone help me resolve this?

Not sure if this applies to your problem, but is the extra memory (fax) installed from the fax option?

I'm new to this machine, so I don't know. Do I need to physically check or is there a menu that will tell me that?

If I remember TC 22-6 or 22-10 will give you what options are installed; sorry, I’ve been retired for 8 years, and slowing down.

There is no extra memory to install, only the fax.

          F. Destination setting
          1) Enter the SIM26-6 mode.
          2) Check to confirm that the destination setting of the machine matches the specifications of the FAX destination. If not, the FAX may not function properly.

          G. Clear theFAX related software swithes
          1) Enter the SIM66-2 mode.
          2) Press DEST CODE button.
          3) Take a note of the corresponding destination code.
          4) Press BACK button to return to the code entry mode.
          5) Enter the destination code taken in procedure 3), and press SET button.
          6) Press EXECUTE and YES buttons.

          H. Line cable connection
          1) Connect the line cable on the line to the modular jack indicated as “LINE.”

Also SIM66-10 to clear the fax memory.

I would also run SIM66-10 to clear the fax memory. It clears up a lot of problems for me.

I am not sure of the error code, but we have had where it would not send but would receive and for us it was as simple as the customer had a 4 wire cord. We put the two wire cord on and it worked fine.

                Couple things to check:
-make sure the fax cord itself is a 2-wire, not a 4-wire cord
                -turn off ECM
                -turn off v.34
-change coding from JBIG to MMR
-set TX & RX baud rates to 9600

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

I got to the machine and tried these steps today and it still will not send. Receive is still good. This time the note is "Memory Busy" File 5708
ECM is off. I didn't get time to change v.34, coding or the baud rates.

It does have a four wire cord going from ethernet wall port to line port. I could not find a 2 wire cord in my stash, so I will try that when I locate one and report back.

2-wire is definitely a good idea. Did you try just making a phone call out through the line? I've had a grandstream box tell me it sent just fine, but it would never even call out. Also, baud rate NEEDS to be 9600 with that Grandstream box, as well as a lot of other ATA's.

I've had some time to play with it today. I replaced the line with 2-wire and that did not help.
I placed a regular telephone in the wall jack and could successfully make a call. The line port on the fax module has "no line" unless the copier is shut off.
The sw setting in the fax module manual says that 34 & 35 are the settings for the baud rate and the JBIG, MMR - but I don't have those numbers and can't find any other line that corresponds with it.
