    BP-FU701 separation plate

We've had a few of these fusers where the paper gets under the separation plate.

When the plate bends, the only part available is the entire fusing belt?

Any tips on fuser settings where the paper doesnt stick to the fusingbelt?

I get the impression Sharp fusers have been getting worse since the CR4 series.

With the MX2614/mx361fu, we never had any issues other then the webcleaning getting stuck once in a while.

Our rep mentioned there was a run of belt units that, though digitally-factory set, wasn't correctly done, and was either pressing too much, or not enough onto the belt. Not sure what range of serials/units were affected, but that could be part of your problem. You can technically adjust them, I haven't before, but I'd imagine you'd need feeler gauges. Maybe someone else on here has some experience with that? Don't take my word for it.

And yes, the fusers have been slowly declining. The 5141/3640 series' had fusers that lasted to 500k (minus the web), and even used the same fuser belt after a while! (unlike the Pheonix/Pheonix2 machines... I'm not mad, you're mad). The fusers are just getting more complicated and more problematic, and it's getting a little ridiculous.

As we have been rebuilding a few more of these fusers I have started saving the separation blade unit from some of the used up belt units. 2 pink screws hold the blade unit. I figure that is a easy way to collect some of them if they are in good condition. I have also had to replace the drive gear on a few due to the belt getting goooed up inside and then getting so stiff that the drive gear strips teeth. At least the surface of the belt and roller aren't breaking down as fast on these.

Are fusers that bad on other manufacturers models or it's only Sharp that try to make the best POS ?

I have also had problems with that fuser unit, especially with paper with a lot of toner mass.

You can adjust it a little but you risk damaging the fuser film, which is very flimsy.

Yes, I see the new fusers as quite bad. In this series, we do not have any machine that reaches the 600,000 copies that the manufacturer says.

That seems pretty weird... We installed 50 of these 2 months ago, and upon setup, checked the meandering adjustment and exactly half of them were out of spec and needed readjustment.

              Have you tried any adjustments?

              1. Calibrate the color fully, including laser cals in sim 61. Reset the values in 61-13, and then calibrate with 61-11 with all three options(light, middle, dark), then run 44-2, 50-22, 44-6, 44-26, 46-74

              2. Device Control has the 28lb paper setting, that helps with full coverage prints as well.

              3. Try 43-1 to adjust the fuser temp on whatever paper type they're using, increasing it by +5 or +10 may help combat the paper sticking to the belt.

              4. CN Update has been recommended more and more from tech support to combat a bunch of little issues. (doubt it will help though)

              5. Try different paper, but that's much easier said, than done, but maybe there's moisture in it causing the stick.

Being that it's only been out there a month, definitely not fun, and I feel for you.

We've replaced around 20 of these belt units so far, only 1 has reached 600k, most fail around 50%.

All failures have been high speed (C45 or above)

Theres a new belt unit coming out later this year I believe
