Sharp MX2651 - ARM processors trouble with drivers

    Hello,

We have problems with some clients that are working on devices with an ARM processor (such as the Microsoft surface Pro).
The drivers won't install, the printer isn't showing up in the list or isn't working.

We already tried the following drivers, without any result:
    • PCL6 / PS / PPD Drivers
    • SHARP UD3 Driver
    • SHARP V4 Driver

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Copy/paste the unzipped PPD Folder onto the Surface Pro. Run the manual 'Add Printer' method of installing the printer, and browse to the PPD Folder when prompted.
There is no ARM Processor driver support, but operational & general print functions can be installed with the above method only. PPD is the only folder which needs to be transferred onto the Surface Pro. This is the only driver which will work.
You could also use Sharpdesk Mobile from Windows Store. It's a different process to print a document, but it does also work.

PPD driver didn't do the trick. Going to try the sharpdesk mobile option

You must use the PPD Driver with WHQL Certification. If you use the non-WHQL PPD driver it definitely fails on install.
Double check you've got the correct driver.

I asked our Sharp DSS about this in June of 2023, and he said there is no plan for Sharp to support ARM processors... Which I understand because there are so few, but they still support 32-bit stuff, even though there are so few.

There's now a ARM supported driver for Win10 and 11 called the UD3L (Universal Driver 3 Lite).
It is similar to the UD3 driver, but has more features disabled. However, it supports ARM processors.

This a Sharp driver or Windows?

We had a customer( that had a laptop with an Arm Processor, AND he wanted authentication on, so he has to use Sharpdesk Mobile because authentication with different user codes isn't possible with the PPD driver that works for basic printing.
