    Fax troubleshooting question

Hello, I am on a mx-m 3071, the machine receives faxes but wont send out. I replaced the fax module and installed a new 2 line cord. When I call and listen to the line it seems clear. It retrys until it fails. I also resef fax image memory. Just looking for better troubleshooting tips. Thanks for any help.

Did you attach a handset to the phone line (out of the wall) and call your cell phone or a desk phone nearby?

I had this issue before on a MX4071 and the incoming line was fine but there was no outgoing line. It had worked fine before but the phone/voip company had made some changes, and it had to be handed back to them and they finally got it right.

I got this machine fixed, although Fax troubleshooting is still troubling sometimes. It would be one thing if you knew 100% if their fax line was good or not. In this case we tested at the shop before delivery, cust said it had been working then would not send. I think their I T guy may have been in there playing with things, the fax was set on pulse not tone. Once I switched that it worked fine.

Yeahhhhhh they suck. Mostly it's terrible now because of how many different variables are involved now. Used to be allllll analog, but now it's analog, to digital (passes through 1,000 different digital devices) and then back to analog/digital. It especially gets even more tricky when the customer doesn't have a dedicated line, which happens far too often.
