Easy way to do emergency firmware update

On any machine I have the back apart, or machines in the shop being readied for delivery I drill this hole and it makes em firmware updates easy. I take the cover off when I drill the hole so I dont contact board.

Like the idea! Really wish they would just put a small door there, or even just a 2 screw cover. Just had to do one yesterday and showed a new tech how to rip off that stupid cover.

Am I missing something here? What is difficult about using a USB driive & Sim 49? Or accessing the machine's service webpage? Or turning on automatic Firmware Updates?

I was told that when doing firmware using usb in sim 49 will only update any changes and that the emergency update installs totally fresh firmware, thats why it takes longer. When it is easy to access I will do emergency update every time.

CN Update(emergency firmware update) is for when the machine won't boot up, or you're getting a weird error or issue that won't let you get to sim 49. For us it's rarely used, but when we had HDD problems on the Phoenix/PHX2 series, we used it all the time.

Just about everytime I talked to sharp tech support, when they say to update the firmware they tell me to do the emergency update. For sure doesent hurt anyway.

Actually, in Sim 49 you have the option to update only the red highlighted new parts of the firmware code, or you choose "ALL" and rewrite everything.
