Bypass Tray First Copy Speed – BP-70C55

We have a company currently using a brand new BP-70C55 who is concerned about the first copy print speed when printing a stored document via the bypass tray. Based on the specification sheet, the listed first copy time is approximately 3–5 seconds. However, they are seeing 6–8 seconds when using the bypass tray for stored documents.

I believe this timing is within the expected range, but I wanted to check to see if there is any official documentation or reference material that can confirm this, specifically regarding the bypass tray or performance with stored jobs.

I've tried explaining that the bypass takes a bit of time to process because it needs to be verified by the sensors, but they're strongly insisting that the MX series didn’t behave this way.

I know it’s a minor request, but getting clarification on this would save me hours of back-and-forth with a manager from a major company.

So if anyone has any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

    cheers.

Here are the specs for the BP-50C26 to 70C65: BP50C26 etc specs.pdf

Make sure that the bypass tray is set to Plain paper, and untick System Settings > Printer Settings > Bypass Tray Settings section > Enable Selected Paper Type in Bypass Tray

This will make print jobs override the bypass tray settings, i.e. printing Thick 2 from the driver will override the Plain setting to Thick 2. Leaving the bypass on a heavier paper type will slow the machine down, even for plain paper types.

I love when customer says the old one didn't do that.... When I can GUARANTEE that the MX series was slow for first print, too. It's normal for bypass printing, pretty much on every Sharp, Kyocera, and Epson I've ever dealt with. Gotta give us some more info on what they are printing: Plain Paper? Letter? Large file perhaps? B/W or Color?

You didn't clone the MX series machine to this BP did you?

Here is what I found from the manuals, they only list **COPY** time, not print time (because there are more variables)

I had a similar instance while working on Sharp with a Polaris machine.
Same scenario, except this woman had a damn stopwatch when I showed up, complaining about first time out. The Sharp specs listed above are from the paper tray to the paper exit. It does not include heavier paper types, going through a paper pass unit, de-curler and finisher.
