[Jamming] Sharp MX101N - 2nd transfer belt not turning.

The 2nd transfer belt is not turning which is causing an accordion jam. I marked both the belt and the drive gear and neither the belt or the gear is turning. I believe it could be the motor, but I welcome a second opinion. Also if there is a way to perform a check of the motor in the simulation mode, that information would be deeply appreciated.

    Is the Model an MX101N?

Sorry, MX-4101N. Wish I could delete and start again.

I am not sure if there is a way in simulations to run just the secondary belt. If I were on a machine with your described problem I would check the primary transfer belt drive gear on the primary transfer belt. One of the models it would crack and not rotate properly and cause jams like you are saying. Need to take the gear off and look at the inside of it a pin would just spin on the gear.

Thank you. I will take a look at that.

I know the belts on those models can stretch out and not turn, but you said the gear is not turning so there is another issue causing the issue perhaps a motor.

Like Copiertec said, its probably stretched and not turning. In a pinch, you can just cut the belt of and use the machine for a few days without jams. (done that many times). Its driven by the same gear that drives the #1 T-belt. Also what MoochPage said is spot on. I always carry a spare gear with me .

The drive gear on the primary transfer unit always stripped out at the pin.

I want to thank all of you for your assistance. I will be seeing the customer in the morning (they open at 6:00 PM PST). At least, I will be the traffic on the US15 North. I will keep you informed.

Re: Sharp MX101N - 2nd transfer belt not turning.

Greetings. Good news - the problem has been resolved. The gear that drives the primary transfer belt was missing its screw. Bad news - now I have the LA-04 code which has to do with the primary belt assembly not seating correctly. I cleaned both the sensor and installed the assembly - no joy. I was able to run SIM 06-03 without an error. Upon reboot the belt runs smoothly but still get the error. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. If need be, I can start another thread.

I would check to make sure you don't have a flipped blade on the black drum

Thanks OlliK1969. The code changed to L4-06 which is the Primary Transfer Belt Assembly clutch (see attached photo). Sharp MX4101n PTA Clutch.jpg

I will, MoochPage. But something tells me it is going to be a bear to remove the old one. And there are no instructions in the service manual. But I got to this point. Just have to take photos.
