    MX-M4070 POLYGON

I have an MX-M4070 that when the polygon fires up it sounds like an F-16 starting its engine. Has anyone else experienced this? Im going to order a new one but my God, is it loud.

I don't remember Sharps doing it, but other models, (toshiba, HP) definitely. Recently had to replace a Sharp laser for an intermittent code, but no noise.

I've seen quite a lot of polygon mirror motor failures on Sharp, and yes they can be very loud.

Years back I had a Canon fax L770 at the airport, and each time they printed a reception it sounded just like a 747 landing. They never even noticed. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ive had success taking the polygon apart and cleaning the shaft and apply some light oil.

          This.
These models are an oil bearing Polygon motor. A very small amount of machine oil on the motor shaft can definitely fix a loud motor. Run LSU load test 61-01 to confirm everything works OK after reassembling.
