print with usercodes / restart printspooler

We're having issues with a few clients.

    They all print with usercodes.

Problem is that every few days, the printspooler has to be stopped, tasks deleted and spooler started again.

    These are all BP-70C31 machines.

Strange thing is that the printjobs that jam the spooler seem to come from specific computers, but settings are all the same...

Server has been updated, clients have been updated, but the problem persists.

perhaps odd sized paper jobs being sent to the printer?

              I know about the reg edit...but it's 2023 and WIN11 is out since 2021...

Maybe Sharp can adjust the drivers so they actually work without problems?

                  Tried that too already

                  But no solution.

The weird thing is that some computers have the problem and some dont.

We're trying to find what versions of software cause the problem.

Re: print with usercodes / restart printspooler

                    Problems still going on...
Everytime someone prints from the Windows Photos app, the spooler crashes on the server.

If the printer is installed locally, there is no problem.

Only solution is to stop the spooler, manually delete the printfiles from the c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers folder and then restart the spooler.

                    Tried with PCL6, PS, UD3

                    Havent found a solution yet.

                    Has anyone else?

So...we still have a lot of calls regarding this issue.

We tested this with a Ricoh, and the difference is:

-Ricoh prints dont get printed, the server just discards/deletes them since there is no usercode send with the job.

-Sharp prints dont get printed, the entire spooler crashes and we get a call to restart the printspooler.

This only happens when using windows photos app or snippit tool with user codes, and only when the printer is installed on a server, local installations have no problems.

Since it's only one or two apps and going through the server, I would think it's the server's fault. Especially if it happens with two manufacturers, I would try sharing it from a different PC/server, and see what happens with those select people. Servers do some weird things, especially interacting with printers.
