CCE-2027R... crap only applies to 50 and 60 ppm copiers
I honestly this it's the discharge lens getting toner dust, causing uneven discharge in on the drum surface, which then in turn causes DV pull in the area where there is poor discharge on drum.

But this problem is murder. Absolute murder. We are trying to stick to low end phoenix models for rents.

I can see how that could be a problem, but the solutions we have had vary. One time it's the process unit, one time it's cleaning the inner cavity of the machine plus contacts, another time it's process and DV unit, or it ends up being the MC PWB that either needs replaced, or we have been adding screws to the board corners because they're bent out and potentially not making contact.

I'm starting to think that Kyocera made these machines because Kyocera's have the dumbest issues, and the dumbest resolution to that problem.

In the end, we don't use OEM Toner or waste boxes... We have had a problem in the past with the waste boxes on the 5141 series when the seals on them weren't adequate, allowing toner back out and dusting on to the charge kits. Both the toner and waste boxes are from NA Trading, and they claim that nobody else has issues. We can't bring our Sharp rep into this because he'll see that non-OEM parts and leave.

Nobody else has the issues we've been having, and it just doesn't make sense. We're tired of these issues, and they don't seem to be getting better.

We don't either anymore except for BP's. Although the issue is with both OEM and Non-Oem toners. Waste boxes can be an issue, if the end user doesn't push it in correctly. But I think they are fine. We use KATUN.

Ok well, this one we learned the hard way. 5141 has the worst toner pipe seals on the planet. They leak ALL the time. Process unit leaks too, and a lot of it, we discovered was Non-Oem chargers. We have had A LOT of reduced calls by simply using OEM MK kits at minimum.

No, everyone is. Don't worry. It takes time but eventually the engineers catch up.

You, sir, need to stop be so nice, and let me sulk and wallow in self pity.

That being said, we've never used non-OEM charges, only drums. It has happened with the original parts, too, so I know it's not the drums.

I tried to upload a photo of an MX-407MK with only 195,474 rotations or 54,653 pages on it, it was toasted, covered in toner with those cheap seals bent over that crappy charge grid. Those are supposedly rated for 1350k rotations or 230,000 pages on black, they never make it anywhere near that interval because the cleaning blade warps but that charge grid ALWAYS, ALWAYS looks like crap and in turn will cause arcing/shorting and developer pull.

I personally clean the grids with 400 grit emory cloth whenever I take the drum unit apart. Makes them last quite a bit longer and surprisingly cuts down on the arcing problem. I know this is not a standard practice but I have found it to work on all models of sharps. I almost always get life+ out of them.

              Good luck

I never tried that. Do you sand both sides?

I clean the exposed side to get all of the black off of it then run the emory cloth on the underside. Can't really sand that part just run it back and forth to clean any loose debris. I DO NOT take the grid apart (I tried this but the tape on the ends never goes back on right). It does extend the life by quite a bit. Be careful because you can damage the charge grid but if it's arcing already it doesn't really matter.

What do you do with that seal that eventually folds over the grid? I have just removed it in the past with no issues.

I don't normally mess with those unless they are damaged, then I remove them.

1.2M in a year? MY GOODNESS. What other issues have you come across on that series' and/or that machine alone? We had an MC PWB have a crack in it, causing yellow to print across every color page, plus some FN11 issues(go figure)

Anyone else have anything else to add to this thread? We keep having issues, and it's either the process unit, DV unit, or MC PWB needing cleaned or replaced. It is ridiculous how many DV pull issues we get a week.

We haven't had too many issues with developer pulls, (knock on wood) but we have had plenty of fuser issues and paper jam issues from tray 1 mostly (newer style rollers installed), but we always change the full MK kits whenever we have issues with cleaning blades, we do not try to clean the change grids, etc. The MK kits are cheap enough just replace the entire kit.

Only issue we have with this client is tearing the primary belt every 100K or so.

Most of there work is A5 booklets printed in B&W

I have escalated up to Japan and sent them a complete primary belt unit with a torn belt, waiting to hear a response
