    MX-8090

    Hello everyone.

As a technician quite new to Sharp products, I'm really experienced (8 years) on Ricoh, but learning Sharp products only since may.
I have a strange issue on a MX-8090 in a high school I often visit for maintennace on several printers and copiers.

The company who was in charge of this high school was bough by mine this spring and I have to learn a lot of Sharp products. I made a first control of this printer in late june, updated the firmware with the 04.03.X2 package and did some cleaning.

Since september, I have some maintenance on this printer, changed paper feeds, black drum and dev because of DK-VK alerts (the machine has 600,000 prints). I have scheduled fusing and transfer kit mantenance, I'm waiting for the parts.

But the teachers and the printing service told me an issue since I have updated the firmware. When they print large files (PDF more than 20-30 pages), the printing starts around 10-15 minutes after the printing was triggered from the computer (driver from server or directly installed on the computer), and prints only 20 or 30 first sheets. The remaining if the file is ignored.

If they print the PDF file directly in a USB drive plugged on the printer, no problem, printing starts immediately and the full document is printed.

I should try to downgrade the firmware, but I don't know if it will solve the issue.
    I have 04.03.Xd, 04.03.X2, 04.02.X2 and 01.02.Xd from the Sharp website.

    Have you some ideas ?

I have seen PDF files do some pretty funky things, especially when they have layers, clickable links, pictures, graphs... and require "flattening" when printing. I have resolved A LOT of issues by simply asking end user to "Print as image".

Also, some printing issues from magnification, slow printing, incorrect fonts have been resolved by switching to PS Driver instead of the PCL6.

Let's see... make sure the driver FOR SURE on ports, is going to the MFPs IP address, and not some hostname, or WSD port.

Oh! AND I have seen windows updates do strange things as well.

    My two cents.
    Good luck.

I'll try these solutions. A little complicated as I don't have admin rights ont the computer, and the user has neither. He must contact the IT service who is far away and all is done via Teamviewer.

I give instructions and wait some days when it's done to see if it works.

Sharp has always had weird issues with PDFs. More specifically Acrobat. Foxit has been suggested many times on this forum, and I use it exclusively for PDFs with no problems

If the network cable is going in to a surge, bypass it. They can bottleneck the network. We used Innovolt surges for years and kept having to bypass it with network cables for this very reason. Alternatively, they could have got new PCs and are using WSD drivers, which is a MASSIVE no-no in Copierland.

make sure they are using the right drivers. I've seen issues when people use universal print drivers or wrong brand drivers.

Send the print job to the device via 'Submit Print Job' in System Settings/Document Operations. This uses the Native PS3 Controller on the device.
If that works, and obviously Direct USB works, then you have confirmed a Print Driver or Application issue.

                Hey,

maybe you could try to set the network speed manually in the service mode.
                SIM 55-3 / Switch 6 / Bit 1 from 0 to 1 ( automatic mode off ) bit 4 from 0 to 1. Then it runs at 1000Base-T as default.
                That helped me 2 times.

If they print via airprint: Try to activate
                IPv6:
                DHCPv6
I don't know why, but the customer print started from 40 sec. to about 10 seconds now.

                Hope that helps!
