    Re: Gmail app password

Are you using a personal account or a company/educational account? If it is a personal account here is how to create an app password.
Creating an app password for Gmail

What you'll need: To create an app password, you'll need a valid Gmail account. I'll assume you do have 2FA enabled and are looking to connect an app to Gmail.

    1. Log in to your Google account

The first thing to do is open a web browser and log in to your Google account.

    2. Go to My Account/App Passwords

Point your web browser to Sign in - Google Accounts. Even though you just logged in to your account, you'll most likely be prompted to type your account password again.

    3. Create your first app password

At the bottom of the page, you should see two drop-downs, one titled "Select app" and the other "Select device." Click the "Select app" drop-down and choose Other. You will then be prompted to name the app password. I would suggest naming the app password for the app or service you'll use it for. After naming the app password, click GENERATE.

    4. Copy your new app password

After you click GENERATE, a new pop-up window will appear giving your new app password. Copy that password so you can use it for the third-party app or service you want to connect to Gmail. Once you have the password copied, click DONE.

It's very important to understand that these app passwords can only be viewed once. After clicking DONE, you won't be able to view the password again, which is why it's important to copy the password and use it immediately. I would suggest not clicking DONE until you know the app password works for the app or service you want to connect to your Gmail.

And that's all there is to creating a Gmail app password.
Did you click DONE too soon? They don't mention it but really should. did you save the password in a text file for later reference?

Working with a company account you do not have to create app passwords. You need to login to gmail as the company's account administrator and modify the company's SPF record. Define your SPF record - Google Workspace Admin Help

          Re: Gmail app password

Had a weird one last week, on a KM, customer was getting 535 network error when scanning, it turned out that they'd turned off 2FA on their gmail account, as "it was too much hassle", so the app password was cancelled out on the device, they were unable to create a new app password, as this had now disappeared completely by turning off 2FA, and "less secure apps" had reappeared.....told them it might work for now, but they may get problems
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

It is still there. From the Security section just "search" for it. See the screen shots. Note this a free gmail account.
