Dropping print jobs... Weird errors like this which seem to happen for no apparent reason are more often than not (at least in my experience) a problem of faulty cables. Did you ever try to replace every cable? Sometimes a single pin not connecting can mean that most functions DO work... and ONE or SOME dont. Thats the best advice I have out of the blue

Ive been there, a customer had a machine which was reachable by ping, which showed the web interface just fine, which would scan, but it DID NOT print. I was looking around for 2 hours with no clue at all about what was going on until I found out that the cleaning lady had hit the cable which was plugged into the switch ever so slightly with her broom handle and it caused the jack to be JUST a little out of the socket... plugged it in again and everything worked. Seriously, try it.

EDIT: Come to think of it, use method #1 for every processing-related problem: Update the firmware. It can do miracles!

I had situation like Wynard's, myself. The cables appeared to be connected. And even had the appropriate blinking at the NIC of this particular HP LJ4250. All I did was unplug the cable and reseat both ends, and it printed 200+ documents that had been sitting in the queue for 3 months!

I too, believed that the communication LEDs indicated that everything was connecting properly. I was so wrong!

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
