Seriously dude, its the same as all other Sharp MX machines. Look it up

While you are at it, remove the Lower Heat Roller cleaning shaft & two end holders. I always remove them from the Pastel2 Fusers as damage occurs to the Lower Roller from Very Hard toner buildup on it (roller becomes punctured). Fuser works better without it. Stupid mod if you ask me.... Pastel1 fuser worked perfectly fine without it originally.

I always loved comming into a H5 code. ops we got a jam but there is no paper in it. We can hear the paper moving through the copier but it magically disapears! Lets keep running more and more. Sharp actully has a mod now so the fuser gate kicks open when the door opens up and the customer "might" see the paper and remove it.

You never get any any random debris or crap showing up on copies? I have a customer who does nothing but color printing and the first call i got on it was black specks on the prints. That cleaning roller was getting pretty soiled so i cleaned it and the problem went away. At PM time i replaced it and so far ive never had a problem. I was a dumbass though trying to clean the roller. I tore out the lower roller so i could get at it better and then as im cleaning it, the cleaning roller pulled off the shaft. I said a bad word quietly...

I also have another 2600 that the customer is running the crap out of. The machine is 4 months old and has 70k black on it already and they called about wrinkling. This was the fuser.

The toner was super thin and peeled off the roller like pulling dead skin after a sun burn. was easy to clean up.

Thank you for reply. However, a completely new machine and the code appeared H5-01 with paper copies of the second and the beginning of the operation did not lower roller Stainable
How is the removal of the code?

            Hey Lawrence....
Your pictures shows the lower roller 'cleaning roller' which I was talking about on posts above.
We have been removing it & its 2 light brown holders at each end. The fuser seems to work alot cleaner & reliable without it.
It is there for Lower roller cleaning to prevent buildup on the pawls. We have seen more damage done by keeping that cleaning roller in place, than by running it without the roller fitted.

Also, turn down the pre-heat timer so the rollers dont go wrinkled. We are getting double life out of Pastel & Pastel2 fuser units with the pre-heat set at 20mins. (do this only if your client doesnt mind obviously).

              Alright mate, im sold

Next time im around ill give it a shot and remove the roller and see what happens. I mentioned the idea of removing the roller when talking to sharp about another problem and they had concerns about build up on the thermistors but i don't think that roller actully contacts for cleaning were the thermistors sit.

Have you tried the new style pick off pawls for the lower roller?

                Hey Lawrence,

no, havent bothered with the new pawls yet. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the first series. We already have 150 Pastel2's out there so far, all of them running without the Lower roller 'cleaning roller' and running with original pawls..... no problems with any fuser units.
I know the tech bulletin exists, but seriously dude, i'm not going around to them all just to change pawls when they seem to be running really well anyways. Eventually, the new fuser units will be installed with the new pawls anyway.

I dont know who you speak with at Sharp, but they clearly dont have a manual in front of them or have much technical knowledge. The fuser contact termistors are outside the paper width on the rollers and the non-contact thermistats are no-where near the roller. How do they think the thermistors/thermistats could get dirty??

Anyways mate, run the fuser without the cleaning roller. Works a treat!!
